Their motto is "welcoming positive vibrant relaxing cheeky energetic," and it's the perfect place to have a drink to start off the night! There are lots of hip, beautiful people; great drinks; and trendy DJ music playing in the background. They also offer some little foods if you get hungry while you are drinking. Any DJ bar slap-bang in the middle of the West End is bound to prove popular with the style-conscious, aesthetically pleasing post-workers. Before you know it... it's after 1 and you're giving yourself grief for being waylaid by the place and it's blinding beats. We (just) managed to get a table on the ground floor, clocked the welcoming decor - wood panelled walls and bench seats and then the menu! 'Latin street food' they call it - tasty and moreish - is more precise, with a fab selection for everyone. Soon we were in the bigger downstairs and even if bare brick and concrete is everywhere these days, with more tables/alcove seating and room to shuffle, you know you're at the heart of the Market and an early night is out of the question. Located in a square right off Oxford Street, this popular basement bar is a brainchild of the group responsible for Cantaloupe and Cargo. Market Place's m.o. is quite simple: provide folks with a casual, unpretentious setting where they can enjoy frothy quaffs, each other's company, and good (but loud!) music spun by talented DJs. Indeed, the restored Edwardian building features wood accents and a spacious outdoor terrace, which makes it easy to hang out from dusk till closing time. Its popularity isn’t hard to fathom: this is a damn fine late-night music bar (ranging across garage, _electro, reggae, Northern Soul & disco) frequented by _up-for-it local workers. The look is warehouse canteen meets Scandinavian sauna, with lager the drink of choice: Sagres, Moretti, Erdinger Weissbier or Cruzcampo are the ones to go for. Fifteen wines include entry-level house red or white at a palatable £12.50, while cocktails hover around £6.
